Entry Deadlines Approaching
Rob Logan and Mike Mahar of
Cleveland (OH) will race Tweety Bird in the upcoming US Air Race
national competition. Named for its brilliant yellow color, the
Lancair Legacy 2000's speed will be equalized making the race a
test of pilot skills. Rob and Mike will join in the celebration of
the 75th anniversary of cross country air racing.
What does it take to enter? As long as your plane is FAA
Airworthy with a current annual and insurance of $1,000,000, you
can race with us and win trophies, cash, prizes and the all
important bragging rights. You get to have a great excuse to go
flying, help promote a positive view of general aviation, see new
parts of the country and make great flying friends.
Some folks don't realize that the US Air Race also offers an Air
Cruise on the same dates and route as the race. This Air Cruise
option is a chance to fly where the ground arrangements and team
gatherings are handled by the US Air Race and the flying is up to
you at whatever power setting you normally use.

If you enter after June 30, you will be included in the program
in loose leaf form.
"Honor the Past. Invest in the Future" is the theme for the US
Air Race, Inc. celebration of the sparkling 75th Diamond
Anniversary of the 1929 National Air Races. The teams in the
exciting cross country Marion Jayne Air Race and Cruise will fly
from California to Cleveland. There will be a California 300-mile
and a Cleveland 300-mile Air Race.. Awards will be made at the
Cleveland National Air Show. These flying events will be held from
August 28 to September 6, 2004. Participants will have the
opportunity to fly in honor of a 1929 racer and/or dedicate an
aviation youth scholarship at one of the route stops.
As in 2003, teams may compete in cruise, speed and collegiate
divisions. Custom divisions are possible for five or more teams
such as all RVs, all Tigers or all Cirrus. All teams are eligible
for the prestigious Marion Jayne Perpetual Trophy.
