AD: Embraer S.A. Airplanes

AD NUMBER: 2017-21-09

PRODUCT: Certain Embraer S.A. Model ERJ 170 airplanes and Model ERJ 190-100 STD, -100 LR, -100 IGW, -200 STD, -200 LR, and -200 IGW airplanes.

ACTION: Final Rule.

SUMMARY:  This AD was prompted by an evaluation by the design approval holder indicating that the forward pressure bulkhead is subject to widespread fatigue damage.

This AD requires repetitive detailed inspections of the web aft face of the forward pressure bulkhead for any cracking and discrepancy, and repair if necessary.

This AD also requires modification of the forward pressure bulkhead, which would terminate the inspections.

COST: The FAA estimates that this AD affects 482 airplanes of U.S. registry. Cost of compliance is estimated to be $85 per aircraft per inspection cycle, and up to $26,839 per aircraft for repairs, if necessary.

DATES: This AD is effective November 27, 2017.
