Parachute Powerhouse: Aviation Safety Resources to Acquire Pioneer Aerospace

Combined Entity to be Named ASR-Pioneer, Offer Airframe, eVTOL Parachute Systems

Aviation Safety Resources (ASR) announced the acquisition of Pioneer Aerospace along with an impending rebranding to become ASR-Pioneer.

The company designs, tests, and produces aircraft emergency parachute recovery systems for the aircraft and upcoming advanced urban air mobility markets. ASR's acquisition of Pioneer will allow them to expand their core capabilities: The design and development of aerodynamic deceleration systems. It is a fine time indeed for ASR, who enter into

the arrangement with a good deal of momentum from their growth over recent years. ASR has added an additional facility, adding 20,000 square feet to its production capability, as well as the purchase of Strong Enterprises in 2021. They hope that ASR-Pioneer will be uniquely poised to capture the eVTOL market as it ramps up, a goal which is perfectly timed for the groundwork they're laying with the acquisition.

The company will acquire Pioneer's roster of locations, from Milton, Florida; Columbia, Mississippi; and Bloomfield, Connecticut in addition to its currently produced systems. Its portfolio includes payload delivery deceleration equipment, recovery systems, and kits to support specialized programs in everything from tactical, personnel, cargo, humanitarian, weapons, and space exploration programs.

“The Pioneer acquisition is a strong strategic fit with ASR and a key step in ASR’s mission to grow as a global leader in the industry. Pioneer’s employees include some of the top talents in the industry and their history and reputation for quality and innovation make Pioneer a powerful addition to ASR,” commented Larry Williams, ASR president and CEO.

“We are grateful for the opportunity to continue to scale our capabilities to meet the growing needs for safety systems across the industry,” further stated Larry Williams. “Our business plan called for adding over 80,000 square-feet of manufacturing capability, and the Pioneer acquisition allows us to assign the needed production to Pioneer’s established facilities in Mississippi.”
