Myanmar Airlines Pilot Lands Plane With No Nose Gear

No Injuries Reported Connected To The Incident

The pilot of a Myanmar Airlines Embraer E-190 was able to land the airplane safely despite the failure of the plane's nose landing gear to deploy.

CNN reports that the pilot of Myanmar Airlines Flight 103 discovered the issue while on approach to land at Mandalay. The flight had originated at Yangon.

The airline released a statement saying that Captain Myat Moe Aung "followed emergency procedures and did the fuel burn out to reduce the landing weight" before he touched down on the main gear and gently lowered the nose of the airplane. It skidded for about 25 seconds before coming to a stop, according to the airline.

Video captured by passengers showed smoke filtering into the cabin of the airliner as they were evacuated, but no one was injured in the incident, according to the report.
