Rhinebeck Calls Off 2025 Airshow Season Opener

Iconic Aerodrome Cites Regulatory Hurdles for the Cancellation

The Old Rhinebeck Aerodrome has canceled the opening weekend of its 2025 airshow season, citing delays in regulatory paperwork from the FAA. The announcement came on June 13, just one day before the planned June 14-15 shows.

According to a statement from the Aerodrome, while it successfully obtained its required Air Show Waiver, several additional FAA documents remain in the air. Without those in hand, organizers say they are not legally permitted to move forward with the event. The Aerodrome emphasized that it had completed its part of the process over the winter and is patiently awaiting final approvals.

“There are many components, processes, and certifications required to conduct an air show, let alone a full season of them,” the statement noted. “We are hopeful that this will be resolved quickly.”

Ticket holders for the canceled weekend will receive vouchers that can be used at any future 2025 airshow. The museum will remain open for visitors, and biplane rides will still be offered if weather holds out.

Located in Red Hook, New York, the Old Rhinebeck Aerodrome is an active aviation museum that dates back to 1958. It houses a large collection of airworthy aircraft from the early 20th century, including World War I-era biplanes and Golden Age classics, along with antique vehicles.

The 2025 season was scheduled to run every weekend from mid-June through October 19, featuring vintage air displays, character performances, and pre-show access to aircraft and pilots. The weekend experience also includes access to the museum, food from the onsite Aviation Grill, and 15-minute biplane rides in a 1929 New Standard D-25.
