Two Lost In North Carolina RANS S-6S Accident

Plane Went Down Just After Takeoff

A RANS S-6S Coyote II crashed shortly after takeoff from a private airfield near Taylorsville, NC Sunday afternoon, killing the two persons onboard.

Authorities say the plane's owner, Leon Fagan Jr., was lost in the crash, as was Billy Little. The homebuilt plane (file photo of type, right) went down behind a service station near a small airstrip owned by the Taylorsville Flying Club. A post-impact fire destroyed the aircraft.

FAA records indicate the aircraft was built by Fagan in 2005.

The NTSB will investigate the accident. The FAA's Preliminary Report indicates the airplane was in a steep turn when it impacted the ground.
