Fatal Hot Air Balloon Accident Subject Of NTSB Investigative Hearing

Sixteen People Fatally Injured In July 30, 2016 Accident

The NTAB has scheduled an investigative hearing as part of the agency’s investigation of a fatal, July 30, 2016, hot air balloon accident.

The investigative hearing is scheduled for Dec. 9, 2016, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., in the NTSB Board Room and Conference Center, 420 10th Street SW, Washington, D.C., 20594.

The pilot and 15 passengers aboard a Balony Kubicek BB85Z hot air balloon died when the balloon crashed into a field after striking high voltage power lines near Lockhart, Texas.

The NTSB conducts public investigative hearings to gather sworn testimony from witnesses and to allow public observation of the investigative process. Detailed information about the hearing (witness list, streaming information, building access, etc.) will be provided in a news release as the hearing date draws near.
