This prized scholarship is presented in partnership between the CJP Safety and Education Foundation and the Bob Hoover Legacy Foundation. In addition to receiving $25,000 toward their aviation-related studies at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University (ERAU), these exceptional students will also be exposed to a variety of valuable networking and mentoring opportunities throughout the year.
"Now more than ever, our industry needs forward-thinking programs and scholarships to support the next generation of pilots and aviation professionals," said Chick Gregg, CJP director and chairman of the CJP Philanthropy Committee. "We are proud to do our part by assisting this group of talented young students with their aviation aspirations. They have already impressed us with their academic success and drive.”
Since 2013, when the program was established, 13 students have received the Bob Hoover Presidential Scholarship. The CJP Safety and Education Foundation and the Bob Hoover Legacy Foundation each provide $50,000 in support of the four scholarships, while various CJP members assist with the students’ industry mentoring, networking opportunities, travel and event attendance. The scholarship recipients will have the opportunity to attend such important aviation events as EAA AirVenture and the CJP Annual Convention.

“While the monetary support is significant, we find the added real-life experiences and relationships are invaluable,” said Andrew Broom, CEO of CJP and the CJP Safety and Education Foundation. “Many of the past recipients continue to stay in touch with members, often crediting CJP for being a strong influence in their lives and career today. This is certainly a proud moment for us as an organization.”
CJP established the Bob Hoover Presidential Scholarship in honor of aviation icon, Robert A. “Bob” Hoover. Awarded annually, the scholarship was created at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University because of its worldwide reputation in aerospace education. Applicants must be full-time undergraduate students majoring in aeronautical science, with the intent on becoming a professional pilot. Financial need, academic achievement, leadership and commitment to aviation and the aerospace industry are all considered.
