Skydivers 'OK' After Mid-Air Collision Over Ottawa, IL

One Was Knocked Unconscious, Parachute Deployed Automatically

Two skydivers collided in mid-air over Ottawa, IL Tuesday, knocking one unconscious. But thankfully, both survived the incident.

The Chicago Sun Times reports that the Ottawa Fire Department said in a statement that it responded to a call about a mid-air collision of skydivers at Skydive Chicago. A spokesperson for Skydive Chicago said that an automatic activation device deployed the parachute of the skydiver who was knocked unconscious by the collision.

One skydiver landed at Skydive Chicago airport (8N2). The unconscious skydiver landed in the Fox River north of Dayton Dam, according to the Ottawa Fire Department. Both were "OK", according to the Skydive Chicago spokesperson.

Both of the skydivers were licensed. They were both transported to St. Elizabeth Hospital in Ottawa, where their conditions had "stabilized," according to a fire department official.
