United Airlines Ventures Sustainable Flight Fund Adds Embraer

Manufacturers Look to Supercharge SAF Output

Embraer has joined up with the United Airlines Ventures Sustainable Flight Fund, "an investment vehicle focused on scaling up the supply and availability of Sustainable Aviation Fuels through investing in innovative startups."

The fund opened its doors in February of 2023, quickly growing to include 22 corporate partners from a variety of industries. All in all, the partners have committed to more than $200 million in capital to invest in startups looking to defray the environmental costs (but not the logistical costs) of aviation as a whole. Embraer Ventures Fund is the manufacturer's investment initiative that falls into a similar niche, allowing for agile, strategically-placed investing of emerging technologies.

“Embraer is proud to join United Airlines Ventures Sustainable Flight Fund, which is aligned with our commitment to develop and support innovative solutions to address the growing need for a clean energy transition in aviation,” said Leonardo Garnica, head of corporate innovation at Embraer. “In a joint collaborative effort with our partners, we can accelerate large-scale SAF production as the aviation industry progresses toward the goal of net-zero emissions by 2050."
