New UAV From Parrot Has Camera Built In

Parrot Bebop Drone 'Coming Soon' Company Says

A compact UAV controlled by your smartphone and safe for indoor use is "coming soon," according to Parrot, which is becoming established in the small-UAV market.

On its website, Parrot says the Bebop Drone quadcopter will allow users to "take aerial video and pictures like a pro" using the built-in HD camera system "digitally stabilized on three axes." The aircraft is controlled through a Wi-Fi connection, carries a quad-core processor and a CMOS 14 megapixel camera. It weighs only 400 grams (14 ounces) with the complete hull, and is compatible with iOS and Android smart phones and tablets.

Parrot says the Bebop Drone is "built with safety in mind." The four rotor blades will stop automatically in the event of a shock to the aircraft, and it has an emergency mode for immediate landing. A  Return Home function brings the Bebop drone easily back to its take-off point.

A separate controller that will interface with a tablet device extends the Wi-Fi effective range to two kilometers (1.2 miles).

The Parrot Bebop Drone is not yet available to purchase, but the company says it will be on the market "soon."
