Jetstar Japan And CAE Expand Pilot Training Relationship

Leading Japanese Low-Cost Carrier Adopts Innovative CAE Rise Training System

Jetstar Japan and CAE have announced a new exclusive six-year pilot training agreement which will support the airline’s Airbus A320 pilot training needs in Japan. A CAE-built Airbus A320 full-flight simulator (FFS) will be ready for training this summer at the CAE Tokyo / JAL-CAE Flight Training (JCFT) centre located at Haneda Airport, Tokyo.

For the first time since its launch 2012, Jetstar Japan will train its pilots in Japan at the JCFT centre, the joint venture between Japan Airlines and CAE. Pilots had been previously training across CAE’s network at its centres in Kuala Lumpur and Seoul.

Through this agreement, Jetstar Japan – Japan’s largest low-cost carrier – will become a launch customer for the CAE Rise training system. CAE’s latest breakthrough allows instructors to deliver standardized training in accordance with the airline’s Standard Operating Procedures (SOP). CAE Rise enables instructors to objectively assess pilot competencies using live data during training sessions, and through deep analytical insights, enhance Jetstar Japan’s pilot training program.

Masaru Kataoka, CEO and Representative Director, Jetstar Japan, said the company placed a great deal of emphasis on maintaining the highest possible standards of Jetstar Japan’s flight crew. “We are incredibly proud of our pilots and are delighted to join forces with the leading training organization to provide proven, quality training methods that are tailored specifically for Jetstar Japan,” said Masaru Kataoka. “We are committed to building on our strong training program long into the future to ensure our crew remain some of the best pilots in the industry.”

“The demand for pilots in the Asia Pacific region is on the rise and it is a privilege to support the increasing training needs of Jetstar Japan,” said Nick Leontidis, CAE’s Group President, Civil Aviation Training Solutions. “This new training agreement includes our most recent innovation and is a testament to CAE’s ability and commitment to provide our airline partners with the most comprehensive training solutions.”

The Jetstar Group and CAE share a relationship that spans over 15 years, with the provision of cadet training, pilot training and crew resourcing services to the airline’s subsidiaries in the Asia Pacific region, including in Australia, Vietnam and Japan.
