New Jersey Pilot Faces Charges After TP Stunt

The Moral Of The Story Is, Don't Drop Toilet Paper From Your Airplane

A pilot from the borough of Westwood, New Jersey is facing charges after he TPed a high school football field from his Cessna 172, though it wasn't a malicious schoolboy prank.

Sixty-year-old Warren Saunders was practicing for a planned overflight of a game at Westwood Regional High School. During the festivities, the toilet paper Saunders was dropping during "rehearsal" was supposed to be replaced with red and white streamers ... the school's colors.

But North Jersey.com reports that, while he was practicing, some soccer players practicing on a nearby field reported to local authorities that a plane was flying low over the football field and dropping unidentified objects. The incident conjured up visions of September 11th.

Saunders was IDed through his son's Facebook page. He turned himself into police on Thursday, and was charged with violating a state aviation statute which prohibits low-level "acrobatic stunts" over populated areas. The maximum penalty is a year in prison and a $1,000 fine.

The FAA is also investigating the incident. Saunders could be charged with violations of FARs as well.

Meanwhile, most of the toilet paper has been cleaned up, other than some that remained high in the trees.
