Trio Pro Pilot Autopilot Approved with SkyView HDX

Allows Pilots to Pair Approach-Capable Autopilot With Avionics Suite

Dynon recently announced that the FAA has approved the Trio Pro Pilot Autopilot to pair with its SkyView HDX avionics system. This certification allows all type certified aircraft to use the HDX for autopilot navigation and even fly fully coupled instrument approaches.

“Dynon is excited to bring autopilot capability to dozens of new SkyView HDX equipped aircraft models,” stated Michael Schofield, Dynon’s Director of Marketing. “By integrating SkyView HDX with Trio Pro Pilot, pilots enjoy a powerful and user-friendly autopilot solution that complements and works with their advanced avionics system.”

With integration, the SkyView HDX avionics system sends heading, barometric altitude, and altitude pre-select data directly to the Trio Pro Pilot. Pilots can set these configurable parameters (“bugs”) on SkyView HDX, which the autopilot follows to provide precise guidance. When paired with a compatible IFR GPS navigator, the system supports fully coupled RNAV and GPS approaches, offering GPSS course guidance and auto-sensing descent capabilities.

SkyView HDX is approved for installation in nearly 800 piston aircraft models, aligning with the Trio Pro Pilot's compatibility. Supported models include the Cessna 150, 152, 172, 182, and 185, Piper PA-28, PA-32, and PA-24, and Grumman AA-5 series. This integration adds dozens of aircraft to the list of those benefitting from the Trio Pro Pilot's advanced features.

The SkyView HDX is Dynon’s flagship avionics system. It is tailored for experimental and general aviation aircraft, using a high-resolution touchscreen display with physical buttons and knobs for reliable operation. The system features improved ergonomics, including an angled control panel and a hand rest for stable input during turbulence, while its interface simplifies navigation and minimizes pilot workload.

SkyView HDX is modular, serving as the centerpiece of a customizable avionics setup. It integrates with the SV-ADAHRS-200 for flight data, the SV-EMS-220 for engine monitoring, and GPS navigation systems. The displays come in 7-inch, 10-inch, and 12-inch variants.
