Embraer, Air Lease Sign Final Agreement For Up To 20 E-Jets

New Leasing Company Selects Embraer 190 Aircraft

Embraer and newly-formed Air Lease Corp.have signed the final agreement for the acquisition of 15 Embraer 190 jets. First delivery is scheduled to take place in June 2011. The order, first announced at the Farnborough Air Show in July, includes five of the 15 orders re-confirmable, and in addition, the deal has five options, representing a potential sale of 20 Embraer 190s.

"We are honored that Air Lease Corp., along with founder Steven Udvar-Hazy, has put its trust and confidence with Embraer," stated Paulo Cesar de Souza e Silva, Embraer Executive Vice President, Airline Market. "This contract strengthens our commitment to Air Lease as we aim to support them with our outstanding attributes of our E-Jets as they introduce the aircraft mid next year."

The Embraer 190 is the third of the four members of the Embraer 170/190 family of E-Jets, a brand-new commercial aircraft that entered service in August 2005. The jet may be configured in one or two classes, seating 98 to 114 passengers in a comfortable four-abreast (2-2), no-middleseat configuration, and can fly up to 2,400 nautical miles (4,448 kilometers) nonstop.

"This purchase order of the Embraer 190 aircraft begins a new period in the growth of our company and the unique design of the E-190 allows us to offer Air Lease customers a mainline product but at regional jet operating economics," stated John L. Plueger, President and COO of Air Lease Corp. "Since the initial announcement made at the Farnborough Air Show, we have received significant interest from customers from all parts of the world and we look forward to providing an aircraft that meets their needs.
