First 7-Blade Prop Introduced For A GA Airplanes

Flight Testing Underway By MT-Propeller

MT-Propeller engineers and test pilots recently flight tested the first 7 bladed propeller designed for use on a general aviation airplane.

The test program included eight flights totalling five hours of flight time. A functional test, performance test and noise test were all conducted with very promising results, according to the company.

The entire system performed as expected when tested on a PT6A-135A turbine installed in a Piper Cheyenne.

MT-Propeller is in technical talks with turbine engine manufacturers to establish a certification program, and and customizing the gearbox to get the best out of what MT-Propeller calls its "Unducted Prop Fan".

The composite, 7-bladed prop is full-feathering and reversing. Endurance testing in currently underway on a turbine test bench.
