Current FSG President Ron Grabe To Continue In Senior Advisory Role
Scott Lehr has been named by Orbital ATK as President of the company’s Flight Systems Group (FSG) effective 1 July 2015, succeeding Mr. Ron Grabe who will continue in a senior advisory capacity with the group. Mr. Lehr has served as Senior Vice President and Mr. Grabe’s Deputy since the completion of the merger between Orbital Sciences Corporation and Alliant Techsystems (ATK) in February 2015. Prior to the merger, Mr. Lehr served with ATK and a predecessor company for 31 years, most recently as General Manager of ATK’s Commercial and Defense Propulsion Systems Division.
“I am very confident in Scott’s ability to lead our Flight Systems Group,” said Mr. David W. Thompson, President and Chief Executive Officer of Orbital ATK. “Over the past year, he played a major role in our merger, teaming with Ron Grabe to plan and execute the integration process that resulted in a seamless transition to the combined operations of the new FSG. Scott’s many years of distinguished service at ATK demonstrate he is a strong and capable leader with a track record of success in managing and growing large organizations.”
“I am also deeply grateful to Ron for helping lead the company through the merger transition and integration process, as well as for his 21 years of service with Orbital before the merger," Thompson continued. "Ron has not only served our company with distinction but our nation as well. For these many years, Orbital, and now Orbital ATK, has benefited from his extraordinary leadership skills developed through a remarkable career as a decorated Air Force combat and test pilot, a four-time NASA astronaut, and a business executive.”
Orbital ATK's Flight Systems Group provides systems and products that span the space launch, strategic missile and missile defense, and aerospace structures markets. The group is a premier producer of solid rocket propulsion systems and specialty energetic products; a leading provider of small- and medium-class space launch vehicles for civil, defense and commercial missions; a major supplier of interceptor boosters and target vehicles for missile defense; and a world class manufacturer of composite primary and secondary structures for commercial and military aircraft and launch vehicles.
“I am humbled by the promotion considering the depth of talent we have in the group, the commitments we make to our customers, the many opportunities we have for growth in our markets, and the significant legacy left by my predecessor," Lehr said. "It has been my honor to work with Ron through the merger process and I look forward to his wise counsel as he assumes a senior advisory role with the group. His accomplishments and integrity will serve as inspiration for me in the years ahead.”
“I look forward to assisting Scott in his new position and have the highest confidence in his leadership to move the Flight Systems Group forward," Grabe said. "I know that I am turning over the lead role to someone who has the experience and vision to guide FSG through the opportunities and challenges of the future.”
