Textron Donates Velis Electro to AirVenture Auction

Donation Will Support EAA's Aims of Adding New Aviators to the Pool

A new Velis Electro has been donated to the Experimental Aircraft Association auction at 'The Gathering' during this month's EAA AirVenture Oshkosh.

The donation will support the full spectrum of EAA charitable programs, with a decided focus on its mission to bring young people into the world of aviation, both professional and enthusiast. The Velis Electro is expected to be a banner piece at the auction, which will be joined by about 2 dozen other items. Of course, the donation is a chance to nudge their way into the flying public's mindscape as a reliable, trustworthy provider of electric aircraft - a niche that many passing pilots may not know might posibly exist yet.

“We’re proud to support EAA and the Young Eagles program, which has provided young people around the world with their first exposure to aviation for more than 30 years," said Rob Scholl, president and CEO, Textron eAviation. "We know that exciting new technologies and aircraft, like the Pipistrel Velis Electro, can attract the next generation to our industry and we are committed to playing our part. Through this collaboration, we also lend our support to the EAA’s efforts to lead the way in advocating on behalf of experimental and light sport aircraft, both in the US and globally.”

The Velis Electro is type-certified by EASA but flies under an experimental license in the US. Those wanting a closer look can stop by at AirVenture to see the bird for themselves, with live and proxy bids accepted at the EAA Aviation Foundation. The winner of the auction will be announced during 'The Gathering' on Thursday, July 27th.
