The U.S. Army has awarded a contract modification worth $723,998,360 to Sikorsky Aircraft Corp. to fund program year three for 33 UH-60M helicopters and 24 HH-60M helicopters. The contract also includes associated program management, systems engineering, provisioning, technical publications, and integrated logistics support.

According to the DoD contract award announcement, advance procurement funding (termination liability) for program years four and five are also included. Fiscal 2014 other procurement funds in the amount of $723,998,360 were obligated at the time of the award.

The work will be performed in Stratford, CT and should be completed by June 30, 2015.  The Army Contracting Command, Redstone Arsenal, AL. is the contracting activity.

Defense Industry Daily reports that the Army plans to order a total of 1,375 H-60M aircraft split between utility helicopters and medevac aircraft through 2026. The total fleet at the end of the contract period will be more than 2,100 new and refurbished aircraft. The oldest UH-60A aircraft still in service are more than 30 years old, according to FY2011 budget documents.
