All Flights To And From Carlsbad, CA Have Been Eliminated

California regional carrier California Pacific Airlines has all of its flights to and From Carlsbad, CA citing the nationwide pilot shortage.

The following notice was posted on the California Pacific Airlines Facebook page:

"California Pacific Airlines has temporarily suspended Carlsbad flights and ticket sales due to being impacted by the nationwide pilot shortage. We are in the process of training new qualified pilots who will allow us to relaunch services soon. We apologize for the inconvenience and look forward to flying again soon. January flights will be refunded."

Television station KSDN reports that the carrier launched the flights out of Carlsbad in November. There was no indication when they might resume, other than to say it will be when they have pilots to fly the routes. The airline has also been plagued with maintenance issues on its four older Embraer E145 regional jets in its two months of operations. In a report posted on YouTube, television station KGTV reported that two of the carrier's four airplanes had been grounded due to mechanical problems.

The airline's founder, Ted Vallas, told KGTV that those maintenance issues are a "lingering problem", but that he was dedicated to seeing the airline resume operations, but would not give a definitive date for when that might occur.
