Beechcraft 1900 Fleet May Be Seeing A Resurgence

Most Recent Delivery From Valair Aviation Goes To South America

An airplane with a reputation as a workhorse is seeing something of a resurgence, at least according to one company which refurbishes the aircraft. Valair Aviation has noted an increase in activity for Hawker Beechcraft 1900D aircraft, as evidenced by yet another modification the company completed – this time for a customer in South America. “As a maintenance, repair and overhaul facility and one of two factory certified repair stations for 1900s, refurbishing this aircraft is part of our core business,” commented Jeff Snyder, Valair President. “We have noticed a sharp uptick in recent 1900 cargo and high density conversions, validating its position as a fuel efficient, versatile utility aircraft.”

A 19-passenger, pressurized twin-engine turboprop airplane, the Beechcraft 1900 was designed and has been used primarily as a regional airliner. Because of its ability to fly in all weather conditions from airports with relatively short runways, the 1900 is also used as a freight aircraft, corporate transport, and by the United States military and other governments.

“Each aircraft that comes into our shop has a unique level of maintenance or repair that will be required based on its intended mission,” added Snyder. “Valair has extensive experience repairing and modifying each model for optimal performance in its role.”

This is the fifth 1900 that Valair has modified or refurbished in the past year. Prior modifications included complete refurbishments, engine upgrades, main spar replacement, avionics upgrades, customized interiors and paint.
