NBAA Names Recipient Of Dale 'Potsy' McBurney Aviation Scholarship

Award To Be Presented At Flight Attendants/Technicians Conference In June

NBAA Charities has named Marne Burghoffer as this year’s recipient of the Dale “Potsy” McBurney Aviation Scholarship. The award will be presented at NBAA's Flight Attendants/Flight Technicians Conference in Delray Beach, FL, June 21 to 23.

Burghoffer is a freelance corporate cabin attendant based in New York, with experience on Bombardier Global 6000, Gulfstream G650 and Lineage 1000 aircraft; she is FlightSafety and MedAire trained, and has taken several training courses on cabin safety, protocols and crew resource management.

“I went through two trainings within a month of each other to feel absolutely qualified in case of an emergency,” said Burghoffer. “The more aircraft that I fly on, the more I am reminded of why it is vital to not become jaded and forget the significance of safety procedures.”

Burghoffer plans to use the McBurney Scholarship funds to help further her education through culinary and cabin safety training courses.

NBAA Charities, in coordination with the Trust Committee for Dale "Potsy" McBurney and the NBAA Flight Attendants Committee, established the Dale "Potsy" McBurney Aviation Scholarship to benefit business aviation professionals seeking opportunities to advance their careers.

The scholarship was created to honor the memory of former business aviation flight attendant Dale "Potsy" McBurney, who was dedicated to promoting the role of the cabin crewmember. He was a highly regarded and requested flight attendant, a recognized and respected trainer and industry specialist, an executive for a FAR 91 flight department and a valued member of the NBAA Flight Attendants Committee.

Applications for the 2017 Dale “Potsy” McBurney Aviation Scholarship will be available in fall 2016. NBAA Charities offers a number of other scholarships and programs to promote professional development and business aviation careers.
