The Boom XB-1 successfully completed its fourth flight on September 21, 2024, at the Mojave Air & Space Port in California. It lasted 48 minutes and reached a top speed of Mach 0.617, along with a maximum altitude of 16,150 feet. This achievement came just eight days after the aircraft’s third flight. The Chennault International Airshow Board of Directors announced on September 18 that they have decided to cancel the next event, scheduled for October 24-26, 2025. An F-16 Fighting Falcon from the 52nd Fighter Wing was forced to unload two empty fuel tanks during an in-flight emergency on September 19. The tanks landed and broke apart around 7 miles southwest of Spangdahlem Air Base. No injuries were reported on the ground, and the F-16 fighter was able to return to the base for a safe landing.
