One of the United States Navy Blue Angels touched down at Dane County Regional Airport earlier this week when the pilot reported hydraulic issues with the aircraft, resulting in the temporary closure of two runways. The aircraft landed uneventfully and was quickly tugged off the active runway 36. The story made the rounds, as any aerial demonstration team rumor does, with some exaggeration, possibly due to a layman's interpretation of "emergency" in an aviation context. Few details have come to light regarding the exact details of the hydraulic problem, likely pointing to a relative non-issue. Senator Jim Inhofe of Oklahoma has been awarded 2 grants to establish an aviation workforce in the state, issued under Section 625 of the FAA Reauthorization act of 2018. The Senator worked with the Trump administration to establish the programs, geared towards the development of aircraft pilots and aviation maintenance technical workers. Puma and Wasp All Environment UAVs Purchased for FMS Program

AeroVironment's unmanned aerial vehicles have gained another customer through the U.S. Foreign Military Sales program, selling their Puma 3 All Environment (AE) and Wasp AE ISR systems to an undisclosed ally. The company received a $4.1 million firm-fixed-price contract with the Department of Defense FMS office that included their Puma 3 and Wasp with spares packages, training, and support with delivery anticipated by Fall 2022. The most up-to-date Puma 3 AE is a battery-powered, hand-launchable, man-portable drone weighing 15 pounds. In standard trim, it can operate for up to 2.5 hours up to 12.4 miles away.

About 500 Ft Above The Ground, The Engine Power “Rolled Back”

On November 19, 2021, at 1204 eastern standard time, a Piper PA-28R-200, N2305T, was substantially damaged when it was involved in an accident at the Floyd Bennett Memorial Airport (GFL), Glens Falls, New York. The pilot was not injured, and the passenger sustained minor injuries. The airplane was operated as a Title 14 Code of Federal Regulations Part 91 personal flight. According to the pilot, the preflight inspection, engine start, engine run-up and takeoff were normal. After liftoff, the pilot retracted the landing gear, and during the initial climb, about 500 ft above the ground, the engine power “rolled back” but the propeller continued to windmill.
