TOCSIN-4 CO Monitor Updated

The Air Up There

Carbon monoxide (CO) is a lethal, silent, and ever-present threat to general aviation pilots—a threat against which conventional household CO monitors are largely ineffective.

The same cannot be said, however, of the TOCSIN-4 Cockpit Monitor—an advanced single gas detector specifically designed for aircraft cockpits. The TOCSIN-4 combines a robustly-rugged impact, dust, and water-resistant (IP67) design with sophisticated, unrelentingly-accurate sensor resolution and customizable options.

The TOCSIN-4’s cutting-edge micro-processing capability allows for quick unit configuration adjustments. The device’s large back-lit display shows ambient air CO levels across a range spanning zero to two-thousand parts-per-million (PPM).

Sporty’s president John Zimmerman stated: “This compact CO detector alerts the pilot to dangerous levels of carbon monoxide in the cabin with a choice of three alarm modes: flashing lights, vibration and a 90 dB Piezo horn. Unlike hardware store models, you can be sure you’ll notice if something has gone wrong.”

A data logging feature indigenous to the TOCSIN-4 CO monitor can be used to generate time weighted average and short-term exposure limit reports. The unit is mounted by way of an in-built alligator clip featuring 360-degree rotation for easy mounting to common cockpit fixtures such seatbelts, knee-boards, and glare-shields.

Also included with the TOCSIN-4 is an allowance of 3M’s Dual Lock attachment tape suitable for high-temperature cockpits. The TOCSIN-4 CO monitor is powered by two AAA alkaline batteries (included) which last up to nine-thousand hours (375-days). The sensor is highly-accurate, will last for approximately two-years, and is replaceable by the factory.
