Cessna Releases Class A TAWS Service Bulletins For Legacy Citations

Documents will allow older Citation operators to install TAWS systems on their aircraft

Cessna Aircraft Company has released Class A Terrain Awareness and Warning System (TAWS) Service Bulletins for a broad spectrum of the Citation fleet (525 Citation CJ Mark V and Mark VIII; 550 Citation Bravo Mark VII and VIII; 560 Citation Ultra Mark VIII; 550 Citation II Mark VIII; and 650 Citation VII). Service Bulletins for Sandel Class A and Class B solutions will be available in October.

The Cessna TAWS Service Bulletins provide the flight crew with aural and visual alerts to unintended approach to terrain. By incorporating airspeed attitude, crew response time, current flight stage and many other factors, it provides additional crew situational awareness. Ground Proximity Warning Systems (GPWS) are being replaced with this new enhanced technology, which provides all the functionality of the GPWS, with the addition of Premature Descent Alerts (PDA) and Forward Looking Terrain Avoidance (FLTA).

The FAA has issued its final report on the TAWS mandate, which goes into effect March 29, 2005. The final rule differentiates two classes of TAWS equipment:

1. Class A systems, which apply to all Part 121 and 135 operations with aircraft configured with at least 10 passenger seats.

2. Class B systems, which apply to all Part 91 operators, for aircraft having six or more passenger seats, and Part 135 operators with six to nine passenger seats.

Cessna Service Bulletins are unmatched in the Aerospace industry, with expert Citation Engineering support, installation documentation, regulatory certification, and unsurpassed post-installation support. The extensive experience and knowledge base of Cessna's Worldwide Service Center Network ensures that TAWS integrates seamlessly with your current Citation architecture, enabling your aircraft to return to service quicker. The Cessna TAWS Service Bulletins are available through Citation Parts Distribution, the largest supplier of Citation OEM certified parts in the world.
