Arsenal Of Democracy Flyover Route Released

Flight Scheduled For May 8th In Washington, D.C.

The flight path for the "Arsenal of Democracy" flight planned for May 8th in Washington, D.C. has been announced by the event's organizers.

The Arsenal of Democracy: World War II Victory Capitol Flyover will include 15 historically sequenced warbird formations that travel across our nation’s capital – from the World War II Memorial to the Capitol — on Friday, May 8, 2015.  The Flyover will feature an assortment of warbirds representing the major battles of World War II, from Pearl Harbor through the final air offensive to defeat Japan.  Never before has such a collection of WWII aircraft been assembled at one location, to honor the large assemblage of veterans gathered at the WWII Memorial.

Then on May 9th, a selection of the planes will be featured at the Smithsonian’s Udvar Hazy Center at Washington Dulles International Airport for a one day exhibition.

The route will take the aircraft over the Lincoln Memorial and the World War II Memorial, then down Independence Avenue before turning turn south back over the U.S. Capitol.

The flight, and other events, are planned in celebration of the 70th anniversary of Victory in Europe (VE) Day.
