Universal Avionics In Final Stages Of Flight Testing UniLink SCN 31.X

Software Upgrade Provides CPDLC Message Sets to Meet Link 2000+ Requirements

Universal Avionics announces that the company’s new Software Control Number (SCN) 31.X for the UniLink UL-800/801 Communications Management Unit (CMU) is now in the final stages of flight testing. Following the completion of flight testing, TSO approval is imminent.

The new software upgrade provides operators with the necessary CPDLC message sets to meet the European Link 2000+ Programme mandate requirements. Interested operators may stop by Universal Avionics Booth 235 during the National Business Aviation Association’s Business Aviation Convention and Exhibition (NBAA-BACE) for a hands-on demonstration of the software.

“We are very pleased to be able to offer our customers the next step toward NextGen/SESAR compliance,” said Dan Reida, Universal Avionics Vice President of Sales and Marketing. “Not only can they realize the benefits of FANS 1/A+ and Data Comm capabilities, but they will now be prepared for the rapidly approaching European Link 2000+ and U.S. ATN initiatives as well,” he added.

Per the Data Link Services Implementing Rule (DLS-IR) and associated guidance, SCN 31.X supports the ATN Baseline 1 (B1) CPDLC and Context Management (CM) functions which are the core of Link 2000+ compliance. The new software features FANS and ATN CPDLC message harmonization, which addresses industry requirements for operational consistency and human factors for operators flying in both continental Europe and oceanic airspace.

The UniLink UL-800/801 CMU can be installed on a wide range of platforms – even those with a third party Flight Management System (FMS). For increased installation flexibility, the UniLink UL-801 model features an internal VHF Data Radio (VDR) that saves weight and space (no need to install a dedicated system).
