EAA Museum Reciprocity with AMA Begins

Experimental Aviation Association and the Academy of Model Aeronautics Now Sharing Museum Privileges

The organizations notified their membership bodies that they now share free admission between each museum under their purview. Free admission to the EAA Aviation Museum in Oshkosh, Wisconsin, as well as the National Model Aviation Museum in Muncie, Indiana will allow active members of either organization to enter either free of charge.

EAA's yearly AirVenture has created a summertime aerospace holy land for aircraft enthusiasts of all stripes, with their local museum showing off more than 100 aircraft on display, including vintage pioneers, classic warbirds, and experimental game-changers throughout the ages. Exhibits on past EAA member's contributions, like astronauts Frank Borman and Joe Engle, provide a look into history as it was made, with the KidVenture Gallery giving the younger plane fans demonstrative learning exhibits to see what make the F-22 Raptor (every kid's favorite fighter) tick.

The National Model Aviation Museum is a seasonal opener, often available from June to mid-September. It focuses on the preservation of flying model aircraft, with exhibits on the development of free flight, control lines, and radio control models on the grounds. For year-round availability, virtual tours and digital collections can be found on the AMA's website.

“EAA and AMA members share so many aviation interests that it makes sense for us to welcome members of either association to our museums,” said Ren Scott, EAA’s manager of partnership development. “Aviation enthusiasts are always seeking new experiences wherever they travel and this reciprocal agreement gives that opportunity while building on the close working relationship between EAA and AMA.”

“This arrangement is a natural extension for the close relationship between model aviation and recreational flight,” said Chad Budreau, executive director for AMA. “We welcome EAA members to come see us during our museum season and we appreciate EAA sharing its facility with AMA members worldwide.”
