Delta Opens Pioneering Training Facility In Salt Lake City

Will Host 4 Flight Sims, Classrooms, and Briefing Rooms

Delta Air Lines has debuted a $50 million, innovative pilot training facility in Salt Lake City, Utah. It will eventually house 4 flight simulators, classrooms, and briefing rooms, and has room to expand with the potential for a long-term training operation.

Delta held the grand opening on December 3, attended by Delta leaders, Salt Lake City-based employees, and local community leaders and government officials.

John Laughter, EVP and Chief of Operations said, “This 50,000-square-foot training center is really about the future. There’s a great opportunity to improve not only great quality of training, but quality of life, too, and have our pilots have a really great training center to come to here.”

Two of the simulators are operational now and a third is scheduled to be installed in February 2025. The facility has 7 classrooms for pilots and other Delta teams in training, and 10 pilot briefing rooms.

The facility is located near Salt Lake City International Airport (KSLC) is Delta’s first large training facility outside its headquarters in Atlanta and its latest investment in a key network hub.

The facility will have thousands of pilots cycling through several times during the year and will also help support the local economy. Delta also has training facilities for flight attendants in SLC that support thousands of training events every year.
