Upgraded: James Lauerman Named President Of Avemco

Brings 22 Years Of Av-Insurance Experience, 4,000 Flight Hours To Job

Avemco Insurance Company announced Thursday Jim Lauerman has been promoted to President of the Company.

Lauerman, who was Executive Vice President-Insurance Operations and Chief Underwriting Officer of Avemco before being promoted to President, has been in the insurance industry since 1985, starting his career at National Aviation Underwriters as an Underwriter. Since then he has served in several positions including Vice President of Underwriting at US Specialty Insurance Company (USSIC), a sister company of Avemco.

"Jim Lauerman’s long experience and familiarity with aviation and his passion for Avemco make him the right person to assume the helm. We are very pleased to welcome him as President of one of the nation’s leading aviation insurers," Frank J. Bramanti, Chief Executive Officer of Avemco's parent company, HCC Insurance Holdings, Inc, said.

Lauerman couples his 22 years of aviation insurance experience with 35 years in general aviation holding an ATP certificate with Multi-engine CFII ratings, over 4,000 hours of flight time of which over 2,000 are instruction given.

Citing 2008 plans, Lauerman said "The team at Avemco is excited to continue its long and very successful heritage by offering general aviation's only direct insurance products. Our customers deal directly with our underwriters -- and that will not change. We are very committed to continuing our investment in our people to help them grow in their ability to serve our customers.

"We will also be deepening our support of aviation-related endeavors that serve general aviation, including the AERI research project, the Build A Plane organization and Jamail Larkins' Dream Launch Tour," Lauerman said.

Headquartered in Frederick, MD, Avemco Insurance Company insured planes and pilots since 1961.
