Bizjet Down In Iran, 11 Fatally Injured

Was Flying From The UAE To Istanbul In Turkey

A private jet wit a group of young women on board went down Sunday night in Iran, resulting in the fatal injury of all 11 people on board.

The women were traveling to Dubai for a bachelorette party, according to a report from the Associated Press.

Iranian state media reports that the plane impacted mountainous terrain near Shahr-e Kord about south of Tehran. A post-impact fire ensued. Villagers who first reached the accident scene said that the bodies had all been burned beyond recognition.

The General Civil Aviation Authority said that, according to radar data, the plane departed Sharjah International Airport en route to Istanbul. The plane was identified as a Bombardier CL604 (Challenger) which belongs to the Basaran Holding Company. It had reached a cruising altitude FL350 feet before rapidly climbing then dropping steeply all within minutes.

The bachelorette party appears to have been in honor of 28-year-old Mina Basaran, the daughter of the chairman of the company that owned the plane. She posted photos on social media of the celebration in Dubai including images of the airplane.

It is not known exactly who was on board at the time of the accident.
