UAV Corp to Build Florida’s Largest Drone Hangar

Aerospace Enterprise Sparkles In the Sunshine State

UAV Corp, the parent company of Skyborne Technology and Sentinel mobile communications, has awarded the contract for the construction of its new, lighter-than-air drone hangar to Winfield Construction of Fairburn, Georgia.

Plans and building permits for Florida’s first, one-hundred-foot high, three-hundred-foot long, lighter-than-air drone hangar are expected to be finalized by August, 2022.

The completion of the facility—which will house and support operations of UAV Corp’s Skyborne Technology subsidiary—is a major step for the respected builder of unmanned aerial systems.

UAV Corp CEO Michael Lawson said of the project: “Our company will become a one-stop-shop for our clients that  can come to Costin Airport in Port St. Joe, Florida to feel, touch and experience the excitement of their new drone launching over the Gulf of Mexico.”

Jim McKnight, Executive Director of the Economic Development Coalition of Gulf County—in which Costin Airport and the new hangar are/will be located—said of Skyborne’s operation: “During my visits to Skyborne Technology’s Wewahitchka manufacturing facility I have been impressed by the attention to detail and craftsmanship. Our Gulf County leadership team and representatives of the State of Florida are excited by the progress of on this project and look forward to witnessing the ship in the air this summer.”

UAV Corp is a research and development holding company with a focus on aerospace, communications, and environmental systems. The company’s fields of endeavor include: digital communications, lighter-than-air drones, atmospheric analysis, energy production, biomass conversion, and crop and mining management.

Skyborne Technology concerns itself with the design and construction of semi-rigid and rigid lighter-than-air vehicles, reverse-ballonet technology, and airship mooring and hybrid propulsion. Skyborne operates a manufacturing facility in Wewahitchka, Florida, and owns the airport in Port St. Joe, Florida, which the company uses to test its manned and unmanned UAS systems.
