Depot CO Gets Wet Reception After Last Flight

The Military Knows How To Have Fun With Personal Milestones

The end of any aspect of a flying career is momentous event... and the military has a way of both celebrating and having a little fun with events like these.

Recently, it was the Cherry Point Depot CO's turn to deal with a typical military response to such things. From atop an H-46 on the Naval Air Systems Command (NAVAIR) Depot Cherry Point flightline June 17, GySgt Richard Strickland (who probably had second thoughts right up until the moment he let loose) doused Commanding Officer Col Eugene K. Conti with a bucket of water in celebration of the Colonel’s completion of his last flight as a Marine helicopter pilot.

Numerous other depot Marines were on hand to add their congratulations – and additional buckets of water – on the occasion of the milestone flight. (NAVAIR Photo by Dykie Whitfield)
