No-Fly List Rules Set For Change

Obama Administration Will Change Procedures For Requesting Removal From The List

Travelers who find themselves on the federal government's "No-Fly" list may soon have a new procedure for requesting their removal from the list.

A federal judge recently ruled that it was unconstitutional for there to be no meaningful way for a person to challenge their no-fly status. The Justice Department said the process would be changed in the next six months as a result of that ruling, according to a report from the Associated Press.

There are few details about those pending changes, according to the report. A court filing earlier this month indicated that the government will "endeavor to increase transparency for certain individuals denied boarding who believe they are on the No Fly List."

There are some 48,000 people on the list, but it is government policy to neither confirm or deny that any individual is on it.
