Hartzell Offers Free Propeller Care & Maintenance Videos

Sean D. Tucker Featured on Pilot's Video -- Every IA Sent Video for Professionals

Hartzell Propeller has produced two new videos on propeller care and maintenance. Both videos are available free of charge. These videos are part of Hartzell's ongoing campaign to enhance flight safety by providing training and education on propellers. Previous materials developed as part of this effort include: Hartzell's award winning web site - www.hartzellprop.com; the company's all new Propeller Owner's Manuals; and the publication of "Propeller System Selection for your Kitplane."

The first video, entitled "Propeller Care & Maintenance for Professionals," is approximately 30 minutes in length and is aimed at aviation maintenance professionals. The video explains how to perform an annual inspection on a propeller, guidance for on-wing propeller inspection, repair and maintenance as well as an overview of a propeller overhaul. FAA Great Lakes Region Aviation Maintenance Technician of the Year (2001) and Hartzell technician Mark Runge narrates this video.

Hartzell has sent a copy of this video to every FAA registered A&P mechanic that holds an IA (Inspection Authorization) endorsement - over 16,000 copies! Hartzell received immediate positive feedback from numerous IA's. Typical comments included, "very professional", "…an outstanding presentation," "really well done," and "very informative."

A shorter 10-minute video was developed for pilots. "Propeller Care & Maintenance for Pilots" features noted air show performer Sean D. Tucker providing a pilot's perspective and is entertaining while providing technical information including preflight inspections, routine maintenance and explaining why proper maintenance of the propeller is so vitally important to the safe operation of an aircraft. This video will be included with every new Hartzell propeller as part of the Propeller Owner's Manual and is being distributed free at shows such as EAA Airventure, Sun n Fun, AOPA Expo and AERO Friedrichshafen.

Both videos are available in CD format for PCs and MACs and can be ordered free of charge by e-mailing Hartzell Product Support at techsupport@hartzellprop.com.

"Hartzell Propeller is committed to improving flight safety by providing propeller related training and educational materials to owners, operators and maintenance technicians. "Propeller Care & Maintenance For Professionals" and "Propeller Care & Maintenance For Pilots" are valuable additions to our growing portfolio of materials that are available to the aviation community," stated Jim Brown III, Co-President.

Hartzell Propeller Inc. is widely recognized as the leader in advanced propeller design and manufacturing technology. NASA has recognized Hartzell's advanced design capability by naming it the exclusive propeller partner for its General Aviation Propulsion (GAP) program. The company has recently developed the next generation of propeller designs based upon innovative "blended airfoil" technology and is manufacturing these blades on revolutionary machining centers to provide mission optimized performance for its customers. Hartzell traces its beginnings in 1917 to a relationship with Orville Wright and was founded on the principal of Built on Honor - a tradition that continues today.
