Kitfox Conspicuously Absent At Sebring

Company President Says It Was A 'Hard Decision', But Producing Airplanes Already Ordered Comes First

As you're walking the flight line at Sebring this weekend, you'll probably notice that one of the show's staples is nowhere to be found. Kitfox made what company president John McBean called a very difficult decision to skip the Florida show this year, in part because business is good.

“Our decision to not attend the U.S. Sport Aviation Expo in Sebring, Florida, was a tough one, but driven by our desire to deliver the best customer service possible," McBean said in a news release. "This has been a valuable show for us in the past, but our backlog of orders and the fact that our small, dedicated team of professionals hand crafts each Kitfox S-LSA and Kitfox kit, would have diminished manpower just as our product back order has been increasing."

McBean said all manufactures must carefully weigh the overhead involved with attending a show against the need to keep the fires burning at home. He said Kitfox has been attending this great event for many years and enjoyed some terrific island hoping in the Bahamas as a reward for those working the show. “We will really miss the fun of greeting folks and getting away from the Idaho winter, but meeting our delivery commitments comes first” he said.

But one Sebring tradition continues, that being a show special. For 2014 Kitfox has rolled the cost savings by not attending Sebring into some very attractive packages. “The details,”  McBean said, “can be obtained by just giving us a call us or visiting our web site. They include reimbursement credits to visit our expanded plant in Idaho (like a mini vacation, with flying thrown in) and free options. The kit version of the Kitfox is already a good deal, and now it is even better. Our S-LSA Kitfox is an industry leader in performance and up to $30,000 less than competing designs. These limited Sebring specials really make Kitfox a plane worth looking into.”

Kitfox has been a long time leader in kit plane sales and a pioneer in the S-LSA movement. With Nearly 30 years of manufacturing experience, the Kitfox now being delivered by Kitfox Aircraft incorporates redesign and refinements that continue the reputation of a backcountry performer while adding respectable 120mph+ cruise speeds and a range of over 600 miles. Truly an American made airplane, the construction of a Kitfox makes the S-LSA version easy to maintain through traditional maintenance services and optimizes the owners ability to do self-maintenance as defined by the FAR’s.
