Updated Primer Gives Young'uns One-Stop Reference to Sound Like a Pro
An update to 'The Turbine Pilot's Flight Manual has brought the classic primer up to its fifth edition, covering changes in practices, procedures, regulation, and technology since its original publication.
The Turbine Pilot’s Flight Manual has long been a favorite of those gearing up to go to turbine aircraft ground schools, studying to earn their Airline Transport Pilot (ATP) certificate, prepping for an interview with the big leagues, or simply upgrading to a bigger, better, and more demanding aircraft.
Some of the most visible modern additions are elements of electronic flight bag (EFB) developments, changes in the ATP Certification Training Program, and terminology updates. For those in the industry for a long time now, the EFB has brought about a tremendous shift in the world of professional piloting, doing away with the flurry of paper charts that once punctuated every instrument approach (for better and worse). Now, the sleek, lightweight EFB has replaced a plethora of tools, charts, and references, streamlining the flight deck and bringing a few points of consideration unique to the tool. The book still includes all the hits, though, with all the nifty rules-of-thumb one would expect the old salts to know. A comprehensive 'Spotter’s Guide', useful lingo, and full color illustrations round out the rest of the Flight Manual just like they did in editions 1 to 4.
Of course, the book is a professional text, meaning a 'professional' price tag: The Turbine Pilot's Flight Manual can be had in softcover form, or a lighter-to-carry eBook for $59.95.
