SmartSky Receives STC for Citation X

Inflight Connectivity Arrives for Cessna X Series Business Jets

SmartSky Networks has announced the completion of a Supplemental Type Certificate for the installation of their proprietary air-to-ground in-flight connectivity equipment for all Cessna Citation X business jets.

The Citation X fleet, currently over 300 strong, joins an expanding list of aircraft types granted the cert for the firm's enhanced ATG network. Since last year, SmartSky has been making good time on growing its service throughout the country. Last July the company announced that full ATG connectivity was available nationwide for aircraft flying all continental US routes, making the suite a competitor to competing satellite-based airborne internet offerings. Their low latency, patented “beamforming” tech translates to about 20 times the data capacity for realtime transmission while in the air. The result? SmartSky equipped aircraft can hold full video live streams even at cruise, download large files, or maintain updated situational awareness applications on the flight deck no matter the altitude. While building up their network, SmartSky has continually added one make and model after another to the roster of STCs, rounding all the important bases of most name brand business aircraft. Currently, their catalog includes STCs for Textron Aviation, Gulfstream Aerospace, Bombardier, and Embraer, but SmartSky has no intention to stop there.

Dave Helfgott, CEO was excited to bring their product to the Citation X. “It has been a pleasure partnering with flyExclusive to welcome the Citation X to the ever-growing roster of aircraft that have received STC approval. We aim to make high-performance, reliable inflight connectivity available for everyone in business aviation and this successful certification with a key customer is an important step towards achieving that goal.”
