Woman Seriously Injured When Struck By Airplane Prop

Incident Occurred At A Business Adjacent To Middletown Regional Airport In Ohio

A woman on a ramp at a business adjacent to Middletown Regional Airport near Cincinnati, OH was seriously injured Sunday when she was struck by the moving propeller of an airplane.

Television station WCPO reports that the woman had been a long-time employee of Start Skydiving. Middletown Fire Captain Jeff Spaulding said that she walked into the turning prop of an airplane belonging to Nouvel Air, according to the Journal-News newspaper. Spaulding said she suffered "severe head injuries."

The plane belongs to another skydiving company in the area. Spaulding said the woman, who was not identified, was warned by the pilot about the props as she went around the front of the airplane. Start Skydiving owner John Hard said "she just made an error" when she walked into the prop.

Federal authorities been notified, and local police will be assisting in the investigation.
