EAA Air Academy Camp 2020 Cancelled

Holding Our Breath To See If AirVenture 2020 May Be Next...

An EAA HQ communication to EAA Chapter Leaders throughout the country has confirmed that another iconic sport aviation undertaking has been felled by the Coronavirus pandemic.

The EAA communique stated, "I am reaching out to you to let you know that EAA Air Academy Camps for 2020 are cancelled. The current situation surrounding COVID-19 has made it much more difficult to secure all the necessary logistics needed for a successful camp experience at this summer’s Air Academy sessions. While this was an enormously difficult decision that is a disappointment to us all, the health and safety or our campers and a fulfilling camp experience were our priorities for the young people involved.

If your chapter’s designated student(s) would like to retain their spot(s) for the 2021 EAA Air Academy camp, please have their family use the attached form and email it to me by July 1, 2020. We have also emailed this form directly to each student’s family. Your chapter credits would still apply for this student ONLY if they choose to retain their spot for the 2021 camp. We will hold their spot(s) if we hear back from you by July 1.  If we do not receive a response from them by July 1, we will open their spot(s) to general applications from others.

Thank you for helping young people experience the excitement of aviation. Stay safe and stay healthy!"
