AAAE/IAAE Sign Major Training Agreement With Ecuadorian Airport Authority

New Training Will Significantly Expand International Presence, Improve Airport Operations

The American Association of Airport Executives (AAAE) and the International Association of Airport Executives (IAAE), an affiliate organization of AAAE, are pleased to announce a major international training agreement with Quiport Corporación (Quiport) in Ecuador, operator of Mariscal Sucre International Airport.

A "Memorandum of Training Partnership," signed recently by both parties in Dubrovnik, Croatia, will help set a standard for international training of a wide range of airport employees, such as those who specialize in operations or safety, in the Latin American and Caribbean regions. With more than 65 years of experience, AAAE is the world's largest provider of interactive training for employees at airports of all sizes throughout the United States. Mariscal Sucre International Airport is one of the biggest airports in South America.

The training will include a four-day on-site Airport Safety and Operations Training (ASOT) Workshop based on International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) standards and a four- to five-hour online safety and operations certification program. Other airports in the Latin American and Caribbean regions will be able to utilize the new training course, which will be offered in the Spanish language. AAAE/IAAE's targeted training programs focus on giving individuals all the skills and knowledge needed to be the most effective "boots on the ground" powering an airport's daily operations.

"AAAE and IAAE are proud of the work that went into this agreement, and we look forward to working with Quiport to deliver efficient and effective training that will improve safety, streamline operations and enhance the passenger experience at their new state-of-the-art airport," AAAE Chair Jeff Mulder, A.A.E., Director of Airports at the Tulsa Airports Improvement Trust, and IAAE Chair Bonnie Allin, A.A.E., President and CEO of the Tucson Airport Authority, said in a joint statement. "We chose Quiport as the first Latin American and Caribbean training hub due to CEO Andrew O'Brian's leadership and extensive knowledge of the region. The experience of Andrew and his team are hugely important to our efforts to improve airport employee training in the area."

"Partnering with AAAE/IAAE was a natural fit for us, and we look forward to implementing the training workshops and courses next year," said Andrew O'Brian, President and CEO of Quiport. "AAAE/IAAE has decades of experience in top-notch training, and we have a strong desire to maintain safety and security while keeping operations smooth and efficient for our valued customers."
