Unidentified 'Screener' Snaps in Chicago

Man Stabbed With Butcher Knife on Train Near O'Hare

Details of the stabbing are sketchy: a person identified (by the TSA) as a 'screener' at Chicago's O'Hare International Airport is the prime suspect in a stabbing that took place Labor Day morning, according to the Chicago Tribune.

The victim, identified as William Ferdomo, 41, was stabbed in the lower abdomen by the male suspect, about a quarter before seven in the morning, as the pair rode the Blue Line train. The suspect was supposed to have started his shift at 10AM.

According to witnesses interviewed by Chicago-area television, the alleged screener stabbed Ferdomo, who was in the company of an unidentified 31-year-old woman, who may also figure into the circumstances surrounding the event. Passengers pulled the emergency-stop cord, and the suspect ran to another car. As of press time, the suspect, whose identity is evidently known, had not been apprehended.

Rather than go for attempted murder, the prosecutors are said to be pursuing aggravated battery charges, in the vein of 'domestic disturbance' crimes; the Chicago Department of Aviation has deactivated the screener's badge. There is no word on what the TSA has done.
