Mooney International Corporation unveiled the latest generation of its legendary M20 aircraft for 2016. The aircraft has been designated the M20V Acclaim Ultra.

The new Acclaim Ultra features detail improvements to the overall fuselage – including a first-ever pilot door and composite-wrapped cabin, a clean-sheet interior design, and instrument panel enhancements. The Ultra is powered by the Continental TSIO-550-G, 280 horsepower engine, and Mooney claims a speed of 242 knots. GAMA has released the 2015 worldwide year-end aircraft shipment and billing numbers at its annual “State of the Industry” press conference, and the news was pretty dismal for much of the industry. The General Aviation Manufacturers Association’s Chairman, Aaron Hilkemann, announced that total worldwide general aviation airplane shipments for 2015 fell 4.6 percent from the previous year. Year 2015 billings for GA airplanes also dropped 4 percent from 2014. Worldwide Rotorcraft shipments fell 4.4 percent, while billings dipped 21.9 percent. Diamond Aircraft’s 2016 DA40XLT four-place general aviation airplane is equipped with a long list of standard features and equipment that now also includes Garmin’s Electronic Stability & Protection System and Garmin’s new ADS-B. All this -- and MORE in today's episode of Airborne!!!
