HAI Hosts Chinese Delegation

30 Aviation Professionals In FAA Executive Management Training

HAI and PHI Air Medical Group recently hosted a group of 30 Chinese aviation professionals at the request of the FAA's Office of International Affairs. The delegation is participating in an FAA Executive Management Development Training Program funded through the U.S. Trade Development Agency. The program receives matching funds from aviation companies in the U.S. that are part of the U.S. china Aviation Cooperation Program.

Participants in the program are mid- and upper-level managers considered to be among the best in the Chinese aviation industry representing both government and civilian interests. They included representatives from CAAC, as well as educators, airline and airport personnel. They gathered at Leesburg Executive Airport in Leesburg, VA, to learn about HAI and what it does as an organization, including some of its most recent safety initiatives, from Dave York, HAI’s vice president of Regulations and International Affairs.

PHI Pilot Ken Coffland showed the delegation around the company's EC-135, and demonstrated his patented "Safety Dance" ... all through an interpreter. He also discussed the differences between Part 91 and Part 135 operations.

The program is part of the FAA Academy which the agency says is committed to improving worldwide aviation safety by providing quality training and related service to the international community. The Academy offers a wide range of training including Technical Operations, Airworthiness, Avionics, Aircraft Certification, Airports, Air Traffic Control, Flight Inspection, Aviation English and Management. Most of the FAA's training courses are offered to International participants. The International Training Program (ITP) is responsible for enrolling international participants and can provide additional information on training courses available at the FAA Academy.
