Canadian STC Granted For FAST Data Acquisition System

Use Approved For Dash-8 200 And 300 Series

Pratt & Whitney Canada’s FAST (Flight Data Acquisition Storage and Transmission System) engine diagnostic, prognostic and health-management (DPHM) tool is continuing to gain altitude. The innovative system recently received a Transport Canada Supplemental Type Certificate (STC) for use on Bombardier Dash-8 200 and 300 series aircraft, paving the way for its installation on these models. Transport Canada STC No. SA12-70 now includes Bombardier Models Q200, Q300 and Q400.

“This latest certification is great news for FAST and for customers looking to install this comprehensive diagnostic system on their aircraft,” says John Di Bert, Vice President, Customer Service, P&WC.

The latest FAST STC was obtained following extensive trials on a QantasLink Dash-8 300 in Sydney, Australia. “This truly represents the global footprint FAST is gaining so customers can now listen to their engines talking,” says Di Bert. Also, P&WC’s FAST solution is expected to receive FAA STC approval for the ATR 72-600 later this year.

P&WC’s DPHM systems provide operators with objective operational, trending and exceedance data to help them make informed decisions about preventive maintenance and better manage repair and overhaul expenses. They also reduce unscheduled maintenance, lower operating costs and increase aircraft availability.

“Dispatch reliability is critical,” says John Di Bert, Vice President, Customer Service, P&WC. “That’s why we are steadily moving our customers toward a planned operating environment where maintenance can be synchronized with their schedules and downtime kept to an absolute minimum. As a one-stop application for managing all aircraft performance data, FAST represents a significant competitive advantage for these operators.”

P&WC recently celebrated the installation of its 5,000th DPHM diagnostic solution and has delivered over 225 FAST systems to date.
