BizAv Coalition: SAF Most Effective For Emissions Reduction

Committed To Championing Sustainability Through Alternative Fuels

The National Business Aviation Association supports the Business Aviation Coalition for Sustainable Aviation Fuel, a partnership of more than 20 companies – including NBAA – and key trade associations dedicated to scaling the adoption and production of sustainable aviation fuels.

The coalition maintains that the most effective solution for emissions reduction in air travel is through the use of SAF, and both business aviation and commercial aircraft manufacturers and operators have been developing new materials, engines, and procedures for optimizing the use of SAF.

The NBAA has been a strong supporter of leading climate action through its pioneering commitment to the use of SAF for years. As a participant in the coalition the association encourages aircraft operators globally to contact their fuel providers, FBOs, and sustainability advisors to identify SAF options, particularly for travel to the approaching COP30 running from November 10-21 in Belém, Brazil.

The COP30 is the Conference of Parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC), an annual summit where world leaders and stakeholders gather to negotiate on actions to combat climate change.

The business aviation sector has been at the forefront of SAF adoption by driving both physical uplift and developing book-and-claim systems that expand the global reach and impact of SAFs. Currently, more than 100 FBOs worldwide offer direct uplift, and the book-and-claim process provides options to effectively address emissions and promote investment directly into the production of SAF.
