NASS Introduces Enhanced Cargo Door For Cessna C-208

Sliding Door Allows Easier Parachute And Bundle-Drop Operations

North American Surveillance Systems USA has introduced an enhanced cargo door for the Cessna Caravan 208 Series aircraft. “This door is the latest addition to the NASS FAST EAGLE family of rapid conversion solutions,” said Richard McCourt, President of North American Surveillance Systems. "The sliding, air operable door turns any C-208 into a multi-role aircraft,” said McCourt.

“It requires no modification to the aircraft and installs in place of the standard two piece cargo door in approximately one hour.  The air operable feature enables parachute and bundle drop operations,” said McCourt.

The new door assembly weighs approximately 45 pounds.  With the door installed, the aircraft maintains the same OEM exterior profile including the same windows.

“This IR&D effort was initiated in response to customer identified operational requirements. The project was completed in less than 45 days, marking another IR&D achievement for our engineering and fabrication team.  We are developing similar doors for other utility aircraft,” said McCourt.
