Second Marine Dies From Injuries Suffered In V-22 Hard Landing

Accident Occurred In Hawaii Sunday

A second Marine who had been aboard an MV-22 Osprey that made a "hard landing" in Hawaii has died of his injuries.

Fox News reports that the Marine's next of kin have been notified. His name was being withheld for 24 hours after the notification was made.

There were 22 people on board the aircraft when the accident occurred. Fox News reports that two remain hospitalized in stable condition.

The Marines were conducting routine sustainment training at the time. The 15th MEU departed San Diego May 10 on a seven-month deployment to the Pacific Command and Central Command areas of operation.

The other Marine fatally injured in the accident was identified as Lance Cpl. Joshua E. Barron, 24, of Spokane, Washington.

Barron was a tiltrotor crew chief assigned to Marine Medium Tiltrotor Squadron 161 (Rein.), 15th MEU. He was stationed at Marine Corps Air Station Miramar prior to deploying with the MEU.
