Norwegian Air International Recruits U.S.-Based Dreamliner Pilots

Low-Cost Carrier Continues Its International Expansion

Norwegian Air continues to expand internationally and is currently recruiting pilots for its crew base at New York’s JFK airport. The company is recruiting captains and first officers to operate the state-of-the art Boeing 787 Dreamliner. The low-cost airline offers non-stop flights from several U.S. cities to Europe and believes that Americans deserve inexpensive airfares on international flights.

Norwegian has recently opened its new crew bases both in New York and Fort Lauderdale. 170 cabin crew members have already been recruited. Read more here.

“We are looking for qualified pilots that want to work for an innovative and forward-thinking company that offers highly competitive wages and conditions and the opportunity to fly the most technologically advanced aircraft in the skies today, the 787 Dreamliner,” said Director of Flight Operations Torstein Hoås at Norwegian Air.

The company is recruiting both captains and first officers to be based at New York’s JFK airport to operate the state-of-the art Boeing 787 Dreamliner. The low-cost airline offers non-stop flights from several U.S. cities to Europe and believes that Americans deserve inexpensive airfares on international flights. The airline has offered quality flights at low fares since 2002 and offers more than 400 routes to about 130 destinations worldwide. It employs more than 3,500 people. In 2013 it commenced its long-haul operation by being the only low-cost carrier to offer flights between the U.S. and Europe.

Norwegian will have a fleet of 14 Dreamliners, whereof three are currently in service and four will be delivered by summer 2014. The company is planning to expand its long-haul fleet with even more 787 Dreamliners.

Norwegian began recruiting U.S. cabin crew in October 2013 and so far the response has been outstanding. The airline has received more than 5,500 applications for a total of 300 positions to be filled in 2014.  So far, about 170 have been offered jobs in Fort Lauderdale and New York, while the remaining 130 are currently being recruited to the two U.S. crew bases. Several crew members have already had their first days in the air.
